About Paralympics New Zealand
Paralympics New Zealand is the recognised National Sporting Organisation for people with disabilities. We are recognised by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) as the National Paralympic Committee responsible for Paralympic sports in New Zealand.
We support and encourage sporting opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in all levels, from club level, regional and national competition through to international competition. Sports are offered through a network of regional ParaFed Associations, regional and national Sport Specific Groups, National Sporting Organisations, clubs, coaches and individuals.
Paralympics New Zealand supports developing and high performance athletes through its Paralympic Academy. "The Academy" currently includes athletes across 11 sports.
On an international scale, Paralympics New Zealand provides athletes with access to a host of international competitions, including World Championships and the Paralympic Games. We are involved in organising, funding, outfitting and supporting New Zealand teams to these international events.
